The sandwich tour continues. Yesterday Ron and I drove into New Hampshire, and the moment we crossed the border I could sense the sandwich quality dropping off precipitously. We scurried back into Maine quickly after a no-sales-tax-transaction, and went right to some lebanese market where the dude made the sandwich right at the register. I was worried, what kind of slack operation makes a sandwich right next to the 'take a penny, leave a penny'? Of course, the sandwich was great. I had a dark-side sandwich, a Ham 'Eyetalian'.
We also got the inside scoop on the lobster roll. This one is from Town Landing in Falmouth. The locals say it is the best for the price. Well, they were cracking the bugs right in front of me as I ordered the rolls. They were very traditional, lob meat on a hot dog bun with mayo and salt and pepper with a bit of lettuce. Very good. The quality to price ratio was tops. Lobster is going for under 6$ a pound right now.
Bad weather has been keeping us indoors more than normal. I surfed twice, so I have been getting some outdoors in. We have had some great dinners. Also some great beer. The Andrew's Brewing Company has been a highlight, a true micro brewery. Ron and a friend drove out to the farm where the guy makes his brew, and when they knocked on the door, Andrew opened up and said dryly, "So you found the place." They got a tour and tastes of his private stock. There should be a name for one man ops like this, as microbrewery does not cut it. Maybe Nanobrewery.
Jeb, Cece, and Pam came out one night to the farm. Here we are at the round table. -e
