We took a little trip back to Seaside OR to get our sea-legs traveling with the mini-us. We went with Malcolm and Emilie, and it was Owens first birthday. In honor his dad paddled out on the only surf-able morning to help celebrate. Malcolm beat me out the door, so I was able to snap one pic of him before paddling out, and here it is:
It was a fun surf session. It was cold, and it hailed at one point. Malcolm had to go in once to replace a contact, so he was able to warn me about going far enough North to be able to hit the 100ft wide section of sand, otherwise you had to get out on the basketball sized rocks with 3-4 footers breaking on them, which he experienced firsthand but unscathed. The picture is deceiving, as there were lots of inside waves and lots of moving water. The next posting I will add a photo that shows the whole wave field. Anyway, I got lucky and angled enough to make the sand, but if you miss by just 10ft, the currents were too strong and you got swept into the rocks. I was worried, as I had not surfed in months, with weak arms after a couple hours of effort and cold, I worked hard to make sure I hit the sand.
Ad was great on the trip, everything went alright, though the logistics were involved. Tam taking advantage of quiet time. -e
