We went to a sold out Seadogs game, which was a lot of fun. The aptly named crew is AA, two leagues below the majors, so you see a wild difference in ability. Batters swing at most pitches, so the game is much faster than the majors. Lots of good AA promo, most notably tricycle races and lobster throwing. Phillip went early and saved us great seats. Any guy with a shiv'd gut and 6 inch scar who can juggle medicine balls is going to get you good seats and fend off the jackals (general admission). We did not ask questions, just enjoyed the good view.
I got in a round with Ron at Cape Arundel, a course over 100 years old. Its a par 69, and quite wide open, so a good family course, and the home track of the B*sh family. We played with a local bait salesman (must be a good business as he was a member) that seemed nice at first, but his cock-eyed swing stance and quiet demeanor gave way to bad shots and repressed anger, the type to put his cat in the microwave when he thought no one was looking. Maine seems to have its fair share of those who crack in winter. He said he has lived in the NE all his life. Crack.
The below photo is the drive off the 18th. Ron shot 1 over on the back 9. As we were finishing up on the 18th, a fleet of tinted window SUV's pulled in, and as we drove up to the clubhouse in our cart, B*sh senior, Phil Mickelson, Davis Love III, and Justin Leonard popped out, along with a bunch of gargoyles with shaved heads and earpieces. We noticed there was no one on the front 9, so they had cleared out the course for pops and his fanboys. Phil holds the course record at 60, but Leonard shot the low score that day at 63. Whacky energy to be around those dudes. Phil is tall, the rest look like you think. No, I did not get pics, autographs, or shout any 'anti' slogans. No fawning or Michael Moore moves. I got Ron in the truck as quick as possible, but not before he was shouting out the window. If B*sh was not around we would have gone over and watched them drive the first tee, but the goon squad looked trigger happy (doing their job well), so we went and had a beer instead. Amusing ending to a fun round.
