Hike on Whidbey Island

There are lots of dramatic hikes in Washington, to glaciers, waterfalls, big mountains, fields of wildflowers and berries, sea stacks and beaches with breaking waves, but there is something about this hike that puts it at the top of the list. Pictures really dont do it justice, but here they are anyway.

The first time I did it I thought it different, but did not think too much of it, but the 2nd and 3rd time really grabbed me. It is a sensory experience, with incredible light and space, and also intersting sounds, smells, and a variety of flora and fauna. This is a hike James Turrell would love.

I think of Sarah and Steve when I do this hike, it has a bit of the Lancaster space to it. Its really not even a hike, but it is more than a walk. It would be a fun run too. It is a funny experience, and one that prompts people to make art, pseudo-Goldsworthy thingamajigs with rocks and logs and such.
