Himeji Castle

Since we are doing nothing exciting but working, here is some more on Japan:

This is your standard postcard shot of the castle. Tim alerted me to this photo-op. "You only Live Twice" was filmed here, as was "Last Samurai." The castle is supposed to resemble an egret or white swan poised for flight. Caution: Excessive squinting may result.


I really enjoyed these two scrolled portraits that were being shown inside the high tower you see in the pic above. The artist really captured the spirits of these two.



And this is how the princess above would spend some of her time.
